Mahila Sahakari Sanstha Ltd. (WCS) is a cooperative financing organization promoted by 28 women promoters. It was established in 1995 under the Cooperative Act, 1992 with the mission of uplifting the socio-economic condition of urban as well as rural women through financial assistance and services.
More than 90 percent of its present share capital of Rs. 65.82 million is owned by women shareholders. It provides banking services through its banking office located at Kuleshwor and micro finance services to the deprived sector women, With Rs. 10 million authorized capital for cooperatives, WCS started its banking program with Rs. 9 million as issued capital and Rs. 5 million as initial paid up capital. The authorized capital has been increased to Rs. 150 million, the issued capital increased to Rs. 100 million and the paid up capital increased to Rs. 64.69 million in Fiscal Year 2079/80.

The vision of WCS is to uplift the socio-economic condition of urban as well as rural women through financial assistance and services.
Mission
The mission of WCS is to develop itself as a special financial institution to provide easy access to financial services for women in urban and rural areas and assist in alleviating poverty through women empowerment by raising the economic and social status.
Objectives
The objectives of WCS are :
- Mobilize internal and external savings.
- Provide easy access to credit with priority to women.
- Provide easy access to collateral free credit to poor women at the grass root level.
- Bring women into development mainstream.
- Develop into a sustainable financial institution.
- Develop a new generation of girls in the field by providing scholarships to potential daughters of deprived or unprivileged women members.
Strategy and Approach
The main strategy adopted by the organization is to mobilize urban and rural savings and provide credit by giving priority to women. WCS is involved in providing limited banking services in urban areas and providing micro finance services to rural and urban poor women under group guarantee.
The organization believes that women have to be part and parcel of development efforts in order to achieve good governance in the country. Therefore, it tries to help towards better governance in the country by bringing women into development mainstream through awareness raising, credit delivery and institutional development at the grass root level.
